Hardwood flooring is a beautiful, natural product that can add warmth and value to your home. Used for centuries, hardwood comes in a variety of widths and stains. Hardwood now comes hand-scraped and rustic. The finish can be high or low gloss. Hardwood floors can be supplemented with beautiful borders. There are many exotic species now available such as Brazillian Cherry, Bamboo, Teak, Bloodwood, Tigerwood and more. Almost all hardwood flooring manufacturers belong to one of several associations that re-plants trees in place of those they harvest to prevent de-forestation.
We recommend pre-finished hardwood flooring. Pre-finished has more durable finishes than a hand-finished floor because there are up to 14 layers of finish baked on for many hours in an oven. It is a cleaner, faster installation and that has an aluminum oxide finish which resists scratching but not denting of your hardwood floor.
Solid Hardwood: Usually 3/4 inches thick and come ins variety of widths. A 'nail-down' installation is used for solid hardwood flooring
Engineered Hardwood: Created to go over radiant heat floors and concrete, engineered hardwood has 3 to 12 layers of wood. Each layer, the direction of the grain is alternated to create a more stable floor. Usually 3/8 inches thick, engineered floors can be purchased in wider widths because they are more stable. They are nailed, stapled, glued or floated when installed.
* Note: All hardwood flooring should be acclimated for at least 3 days prior to installation! *
